love n religion

Love has no boundaries? Love overcomes any barrier? Think again... I was chatting wif some frens, den we had this thot that religion differences may cause breakups. Some ppl may think we're worrying over nothing, but we feel that when a couple touches the issue of religion, its is inevitable for conflicts to arise. It's probably not as bad, if u're jus considering a bgr, as oppose to a steady long-term relationship. I mean if u r gonna end up as a married couple, u would want ur partner to share the same set of faith n beliefs. If not, its just hard to manage in the long run... it'll constantly be a pt for conflict n argument, which is not very healthy for a relationship. Imagine ur husband/wife using a third of his/her pay for offerings, which u may think it makes absolutely no sense or whatsoever. Wouldn't this result in some form of conflict?

A fren threw us this qn, take for instance a couple of a buddhist girl n a christian guy : If the girl is willing to step into a church, even just as an on-looker n not a believer, just for the guy, will the guy be willing to step into a temple for her sake? I thot this qn touched on qte a practical pt. Personally, i feel that christianity is one of the strongest faith, that probably wouldn't accommodate any other religion. It is not say impossible, however it'll just be hard.

Sooo... what abt free-thinkers like me? does religion pose a problem? i respect most religions n faith... To me, another person's religion does not matter, thou some people might think otherwise... i hope i'll never have to b bothered over this. =)

Anw, on the issue of converting... i feel that converting for that sake of a guy is a nice gesture, but it totally defeats the purpose of converting. what if the relationship doesn't work out? r u just gonna 'convert back'? one should only consider converting to a religion if and only if u truly believe in it, if u truly have faith... otherwise, u're just not taking the religion seriously, and in a way not respecting it... On a personal note, i have many good friends n even family members who are christians, and many of them have so-called preached to me before. Well, its not that i do not believe in God, there are in fact many attributes of christianity that i think it's worth learning from, but i always have certain doubts abt the religion n soem of their beliefs, i guess i just do not have a strong faith. That explains y i remained a free-thinker. haha... ^^

If God does exist, why did he bear to put us through so much sufferings? Why are there innocent kids starving out there? Have they sinned in any way, that he has to put them through this? Why is there poverty, pain n suffering? Why do some poverty-strikened people still haf to endure and suffer from the most devastating natural disasters? How do u explain the countless unrest in the world? Is God just putting us to a test? But why? And why did he even allow all these to happen? gosh, that's qte a mouthful...
